Dear Fellow German Shepherd Enthusiasts,

Although I appreciate all Working German Shepherd Bloodlines, one cannot help but be impressed with what the DDR - East German Shepherd dogs are like. You just need to look at what they did for the Czech and Slovakian German Shepherds to appreciate what I mean.

The East German Shepherds have Better Hips, larger heads, stronger bone, substance and darker pigment, however, they also have their fair share of problems. Problems like sensitiveness, thin nerves, lack of courage - just like some of the West German Shepherds.

I guess there are no perfect bloodlines, however there are bloodlines that are healthier, work and produce better than others.

I know what it's like, as I too have been in this very position many times over the past 32 years in breeding German Shepherds.

I think that the DDR stud chart is superb - I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in the East German Lines.  It is a great piece of work and invaluable to serious breeders.  In fact, I am tempted to buy 2 - one for my wall as a quick reference and one for my own notes on my own breeding.  It is simply too nice to cover up.  I am ready to get the upcoming DDR female chart as well if it is in the works.  (If there is a Czech chart, I will get that too!  ;-)  Well done, Kris!)

P.S  Kris - I read about the possible upcoming female chart....is that still in the works?  Have you considered seriously doing a Czech chart?  Do you know anyone that has a complete list of the 30 or so male dogs that the Czechs started with?
